A Journey through Dance of the African Diaspora 1980 -2000
A new Book
Celebrating Dancers and Choreographers from USA, UK, France, The Carribbean and Africa

This new book was funded by The Thea Barnes Legacy and Alison Ray Dance Company, and foreword by Dr Funmi Adewole Elliott.
This book introduces young readers to the dance teachers, choreographers, and companies that helped shape the dance scene for Black dancers and those interested in African and Diasporic cultures from the 1980s through the early 2000s. Its publication is especially timely, as dance and the arts are increasingly under threat from funding cuts in both education and industry. Yet these practices remain essential parts of our education, cultural, and artistic lives.
THE MAKING OF AN UNKNOWN SOLDIER
Book out now: £10 including postage
This book is a documentation of my process of creating the Unknown Soldier performance. There are images of the rehearsal process and the organisations that served as the primary source of information to support the concept of the work. Furthermore, I hope the book will serve as an initial guide to anyone interested in the history of these brave men and women. Also, the book identifies how an interdisciplinary medium can be used to ignite interest in historical facts. Happy Reading!
